Studio Blue Dance Policies
Right to Refuse Service

Studio Blue Dance is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all students and families. For this reason, the studio reserves the right to refuse service or cancel enrolment where fees remain unpaid after reminders, studio policies are not followed, or where behaviour negatively impacts staff, students, or families. This includes physical, verbal, or online behaviour. In some circumstances, the studio may also be unable to safely meet a student’s needs within the current program.

Attendance

Regular attendance helps dancers build confidence, progress safely, and feel supported in their learning. If a class needs to be missed due to illness, injury, or family commitments, we appreciate being notified prior to class. Classes will begin on time and cannot be delayed for late arrivals. Students who arrive late are responsible for ensuring they are adequately warmed up before joining the class to reduce the risk of injury.

Uniform & Presentation

Appropriate dance wear allows dancers to move freely and helps teachers support correct technique. Dance clothing should clearly show body lines and allow full movement. Information about the recommended uniform for each style can be found on the Uniform Page, and wearing the correct uniform is strongly encouraged.

Communication

Clear communication is important to us, which is why Studio Blue Dance uses BAND as its
primary communication platform. Each student must have at least one parent or guardian connected to BAND,
and students aged 12 and over may also join with parent permission.

Families are responsible for ensuring they are connected to the correct BAND group for their class location and for checking BAND and email updates regularly.

Any changes to personal or contact details should be communicated to the studio promptly.

Studio Culture & Code of Conduct

At Studio Blue Dance, we value kindness, effort, and teamwork. Dancers are encouraged to focus on their own growth rather than comparing themselves to others, to respect teachers, classmates, and studio spaces, and to support one another in a positive and inclusive environment. Staying focused in class and representing the studio with pride and respect are important parts of our studio culture.

Costumes

Costumes help bring routines to life and are an important part of performance opportunities. Students involved in performances may be required to purchase or hire costumes, and a costume fee will be advised in Term 3 for our end of year concert. This fee is non-refundable. Costumes will not be issued if fees remain unpaid.

Performances, Concerts and Competitions

Performance participation is optional but strongly encouraged, as it provides valuable experience and enjoyment for dancers. Students who choose to participate are required to attend all rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances. For safety reasons, parents and guardians must sign students in and out of the End of Year Concert. Ticketing information will be provided closer to performance dates.

Entry to Class & Viewing

To ensure classes run safely and smoothly, only students and teachers are permitted in studio spaces. Parents are invited to watch classes during Viewing Week in Term 2.
